she is very adept at diverse façades if she holds the belief that the ends will justify the means. charm and wit are versatile and interchangeable for her, though also occasionally absent; all in the name of the situation. true to her virtue, plex's diligence is all-encompassing, inclusive of close to every aspect of her life; it makes her practically anal retentive in both every day circumstance as well as work-ethical tasks. the woman is a spectrum of personalities, which may make it proximally impossible to catch a glimpse of her true persona in amongst all of her many masks. v a m p i r i c . i n f o r m a t i o n s t r e n g t h s accelerated healing, speed, reflexes, strength; high pain tolerance; immortality w e a k n e s s e s silver, wood, daylight (uv), blood reliance, fangs, progeny, maker e x p l a n a t i o n a c c e l e r a t i o n all abilities to do with acceleration (healing, speed, reflexes and strength) are situational. all of these things are possible and probable during evening hours if the vampire is well fed. however, if the vampire is starved or it is daylight, all accelerated abilities are stunted or completely null, depending on the desperation of starvation. p a i n . t o l e r a n c e vampires are generally tolerant of most pain purely because of their rate of healing. initially, a blow will hurt just as much as it may hurt a human, but the pain is fleeting and, as such, far more tolerable. this is offset by some factors; uv rays will cause intense and lasting pain. silver will do the same and, if any item of silver weaponry manages to penetrate and remain within a vampire's body, the wound will fester and burn for as long as it takes for the silver to be removed. s i l v e r silver is incredibly painful to vampires. it is one of the only things that can truly cause lasting damage that is not able to heal as quickly as blows by any other material. it burns the skin and may, in extreme circumstance, leave a scar that will linger for as long as a month. w o o d though it is otherwise incapable of causing lasting damage, punctuation of the heart by any variation of wood is an instant source of vampiric death. stakes are most common, but if the technology for wooden bullets is on hand, they'll do just as good of a job. u v plain old light is not the vampire's foe. however, uv rays are incredibly destructive to vampires. initially, after a few seconds of exposure to sunlight, a vampire's skin will display what would appear to be light sunburn. after a few minutes, the 'light sunburn' will transcend to splotchy, blistering burns. ten minutes in sunlight will see the vampire burst into flames and, if the flames are not put out within five minutes, they will die. of course, incineration, even if stopped at the very last moment, will take actual and slow recovery time. often, a vampire will take to ground - they will go as far as burying themselves in a dirt grave for entire rejuvenation. d a y l i g h t during daylight hours, vampires require a light-tight area to sleep. this is often manifested as a basement, a windowless attic, a cellar or a cubby under the floorboards. when in slumber, a vampire will appear, for all intents and purposes, stone dead. if a vampire - for whatever reason - sees fit to walk during the day in an area void of sunlight, it is possible - however, their accelerated abilities will be severely affected, and they will suffer 'the bleeds', wherein they will suffer nose and ear bleeds. an overcast or rainy day is still off limits to a vampire, as they are not merely affected by the light, but by the uv rays. this is perhaps their greatest weakness and the time that they are the most vulnerable, so a vampire's sleeping place is often a location disclosed only to the closest of confidantes, if anyone. b l o o d . r e l i a n c e vampires cannot consume anything physical that is not blood. they cannot eat or drink and, if they try, their digestive systems will not cope: they will vomit food and blood. it is a completely unpleasant experience that has no possible positive outcome, unless a vampire would consider the momentary taste of a chocolate bar worth throwing it up a few seconds later. considering this information, their only source of nourishment is blood. vampires require to feed daily (or nightly, more commonly) in order to maintain full health and use of their abilities. they can taste the diet of the person they drink from, and it is more than possible for a vampire to keep that person alive rather than draining them whole. for vampires, this kind of self control is pertinent - otherwise everyone who isn't a vampire would die out, and so would those who feed from them. self-control is also necessary for a repeated and willing donor, of course. because of a lack of physical food as nourishment, vampires do not require to defecate, and all of their bodily fluids are replaced by thin or diluted blood; tears, saliva, etc. Males engaging in copulation may find climax but do not expel any fluid at all. blood donors are a necessary part of life for vampires - though some will feed whether or not their donor is willing. from the donor, a vampire can taste their diet and may choose accordingly. if a donor is affected by drugs or alcohol, the vampire who feeds from them will be likewise affected - this is the only way that a vampire is capable of getting drunk, though they are capable of achieving a high from smoked products. blood from other supernaturals (weres, shifters, fae, nymphs, mermaids, etc) are also capable of producing an intoxicating effect. f a n g s a vampire's fangs are located on the incisor teeth of the upper jaw. they are retractable and usually only exposed during feeding, arousal, fear, or intense anger. this being said, their use is also sparingly voluntary; it is possible for a vampire to show their fangs for the purposes of impression or intimidation, or retract them to hide their fear or arousal - though most commonly their presence is dictated by instinct and is often indicative of extreme emotions. young vampires have less control over their fangs and will commonly be embarrassed or confused by either absence or presence at particular times. removal of fangs is removal of pride - it is just as humiliating as removing a buck's horns or castrating a human male. it is also incredibly detrimental to a vampire's health - they are severely limited in terms of feeding without the primary source of their weaponry. p r o g e n i e s . a n d . m a k e r s the bond between progeny and maker is best described as the bond between parent and child. to abandon a new vampire is to throw a newborn in a gutter and expect it to make its own way. of course, just as with parents and children, there are good and bad makers, loyal and misbehaving progenies. usually, the bond is strong and innate, the progeny is loyal to the maker (however occasionally hesitant or in need of admonishment) and the maker is protective and attached. unlike parents and children, makers have power over their progenies that is physical and incapable of refusal; so long as a maker offers a direct command, their progeny physically cannot refuse. this is offset by one circumstance: release. a maker may release a progeny if the progeny severely disappoints or requests it. commonly, this is used as a ruse to trick outside parties into discounting the relationship between progeny and maker, though the progeny is more than capable of maintaining loyalty. also unlike parent and child, this bond is not necessarily platonic. a maker and progeny may, without consequence, procreate or engage in romantic endeavours. in fact, it is common, despite familial loyalty and titles. in regards to titles, a maker will often call their progeny 'daughter' or 'son', and multiple progenies of the same maker usually consider each other 'siblings', though their relationships are also not strictly platonic. vampires are typically quite unwilling to create a progeny until they have lived for a certain amount of time due to the responsibility required. biologically speaking, most vampires will eventually feel the urge to create in order to carry on their line, but it will be a heavily considered process. i m m o r t a l i t y sometimes considered both curse and gift, a vampire's immortality is both costly and rewarding. when turned, a vampire will have a natural life of indefinite length. though it is possible to kill them, if they are not exposed to fatal circumstance, they will live continuously, suspended in the age and state that they were turned. for example, a twenty-year-old will age in time but not appearance. tattoos will not keep on an already-turned vampire. if an amputee is turned, their leg will not regenerate after vampiricism occurs. an obese human will be an obese vampire. moreover, they are clinically dead. an immortal life is more accurately called an indefinite, uncertain death; vampires do not breathe unless they do so voluntarily (perhaps to catch a scent, for example), their hearts do not pump and the blood in their bodies is not their own, even though it does sluggishly travel around their bodies. due to the slow nature of the blood movement (which is thus far unexplained due to the lack of beating heart), low circulation means generally cold body temperature, offset only by a warm mouth and throat after a fresh feed. they do require sleep, it is accumulated during the day and, whilst in slumber, a vampire appears obviously dead. they maintain lack of breath and heartbeat, and do not move at all. a d d i t i o n a l . n o t e s b i t e a vampire's bite is typically an incredibly pleasant experience. this is due to the venom that a vampire possesses - but which serves no other purpose besides eliciting pleasure where pain would usually occur. this venom does not have any lasting effects besides an apparent 'afterglow' wherein the victim may feel mildly drowsy and averse to any strenuous exertion. the purpose of the venom is purely a survival tactic on the vampire's instinctive behalf; it will encourage willing and repeat donors. d e a t h when a vampire dies, they disintegrate into blood and viscera. there is no coming back from death, and it can only be achieved by one of the weapons/methods listed above. r e l i g i o n any suggested pain or aversion that vampires have towards religion is false. they can walk on 'hallowed' ground, they can be in the presence of religious paraphernalia and they are more than capable of entering a church without repercussion. to vampires, holy water is just water that someone said some words and made a hand-signal over. d o n o r . s p e c i e s vampires cannot live on the blood of feral animals. that is non-negotiable. they are capable of digesting it, but it will not sustain them nor provide any vital nutrients. donors do not need to be human, but the closer they are, the better. human blood contains the best nutrients, whilst mix-breeds (anthromorphs, nekos, etc) can provide sustenance to varying degrees. vampires are known to regularly settle for anthromorphs and can happily live on a diet consisting only of them, though preferences may differ. t u r n i n g as far as the creation of other vampires goes, only those who are human or part-human can be changed. if it is possible for a vampire to gain nutrients from a donor, it is possible for that donor to be turned. that being said, please refer to the section above on makers and progenies with reference to a vampire's willingness to turn another individual. the turning process consists of simple steps: first, a vampire must feed from the victim, then, the victim must be assisted to drink of the vampire's blood and finally, the two must sleep together in the ground for upwards of twenty-four hours (times may vary). disclaimer p l e a s e . n o t e that all of this information is specific to perplexing and is somewhat based off the t.v series True Blood. you are free to use this information - i have set it out in a manner that i intended to appear like a kind of knowledgeable text book - but if you want to use it word-for-word, please contact me and ask first. if you have any questions about my character whose answer is not covered by this information, please don't hesitate to let me know. also, don't feel bad if you don't read it all. i don't mind, and i know it's a fair bit. just don't bitch if you missed something and it comes up in rp - this is all to make plex balanced and easier to rp with.
